Business was big in Forks and Palmer townships in 2012.
The Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail in Forks Township was the main attraction in terms of business development in 2012 for Forks and Palmer townships. The plaza, converted from an old retail outlet, rose from the ashes to sparkle as a centerpiece of Forks' business district. But while the building sparkled, its space wasn't filled immediately by tenants. A branch of Easton Hospital, a hair salon and two recreational businesses geared to children -- GymTime and Bounce U -- are the only tenants so far. Plans to add a vineyard store fell through. For the Palmer Park Mall, there were many comings and goings. Four new stores opened and several closed during the year. The mall welcomed a new book store, a toy store and Spencer's while it lost one …

Deal to add Franklin Hill Vineyards falls through for Forks Township mecca.
The Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail now has four new businesses operating in the transformed shopping mecca. But one business won't be coming. Forks Township officials have confirmed that a deal to bring a Franklin Hill Vineyards shop to the center has fallen through. Township Zoning Officer Tim Weis said in an email that "the vineyard has pulled out of their commitment at this point" and therefore were not issued a building permit. Franklin Hill Vineyards has a shop on Route 248 on the Lower Nazareth/Palmer Township border. Trail Trimmers Salon opened in Park Plaza over the past two weeks. Meanwhile, Park Plaza also has added a Bounce U, GymTime and a branch of Easton Hospital. Alison Miers, vice president of Easton Initiatives for the …

What should fill one of the empty storefronts in the Giant Shopping Center in Forks Township?
In this new feature, we ask readers for their opinion on what stores, restaurants or businesses they would like to see in vacant locations. It sits empty, a vacant storefront awaiting an opportunity. In the Giant Shopping Center off Sullivan Trail in Forks Township, this empty storefront sits on the far left of the Giant food store, right next to an H&R Block office that sees little traffic during the offseason and a pizza place and Chinese restaurant. On the other side, Something Different, a women's boutique, has just celebrated its 10th anniversary. Nearby, the Just a Dream yogurt shop filled a vacancy six months ago. Nearby, the Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail is getting ready to blossom. But that center will focus on certain specialty …

Numerous discussions on what would be best for future of Forks Township.
There was a song back in the mid-'80s that was pretty catchy. It was one of those one-hit wonders and sung by a group called Timbuk 3. "The Future is So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades." Catchy tune and certainly one that you could sing in Forks Township. The future of Forks Township is a big topic these days throughout town. Seems like everyone is discussing it in some fashion. So what's the future for the "Cottage in the Woods?" What should be done with the building next door? What will happen to the Braden Airport? What's going into the Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail? The Business and Commerce Association of Forks Township will hold a roundtable Tuesday in which the township's business future will be discussed. And the Forks Township Board of…

New business marks third to open in Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail in Forks Township.
GymTime (spelled GymtiME) made its mark in the Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail Sunday, becoming the third business to open in Forks Township's new center. "We're very hapy with the turnout so far," owner Meghan Ibach said. The business, which bills itself as "sports, recreation and fitness for a lifetime," held a grand opening open house that also featured the B-104 radio station. Ibach said she had hoped to have 60 children registered for fall classes to get going, but the number so far has exceeded 100. With such success, Ibach said she plans to offer classes for the winter like possibly Mommy/Baby Yoga, Parent/Child Zumba and Hip Hop and maybe Dodge Ball for high schoolers. In its brochure, GymtiME states that it will create opportunities …

New Business Opening in Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail.
The third business in the new Park Plaza at Sullivan Trail will hold its grand opening Sunday. GymtiME joins BounceU and Easton Hospital's wellness center as the first spots in Forks Township's new shopping mecca jewel. Owner Meghan Ibach participated in the recent Forks Community Days, giving away water bottles and squeeze balls as prizes at her tent and passing out information about the business. GymtiME bills itself as "sports, recreation and fitness for a lifetime." Ibach said the business officially opened with classes on Monday, but that a grand opening will take place Sunday, Sept. 30, from noon to 4 p.m. The spelling of the business name is interesting too, with the M and E capitalized at the end. Ibach said there's a reason for …
