Expect Traffic Delays on Route 22 This Weekend

Beams will be set this weekend on the new Route 145 bridge over Route 22, PennDOT says.

Expect lane restrictions and traffic stoppages this weekend in the area of the Route 22 interchange with Route 145/MacArthur Road, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says. The restrictions will allow workers to safely set beams for the new bridge over Route 22. According to PennDOT: Motorists are urged to use caution when driving through the work zones. The $13.8 million project, designed to improve traffic flow on Routes 22 and 145, began in May 2012. PennDOT says 87,000 vehicles travel Route 22 each day, while 38,000 vehicles travel Route 145/MacArthur Road every day. As part of the project, the cloverleaf interchange is being replaced with a diamond interchange to eliminate the current merging patterns. Also, the bridge over …

Meco Traffic Light Work Wraps Up

Forks Township engineer expects work at Meco Road intersection to be finished this week.

Work on the Meco Road traffic signal is nearing completion. The Forks Township Board of Supervisors received an update from Township Engineer Scott Muller at the board's recent meeting that the work was expected to be completed this week. "The widening is done. Now we have to do the curbing and paving," Muller said. "Then the traffic signals will be on blink for a little while." The light at the busy intersection, which connects with Sullivan Trail, was planned almost a decade ago. Workers have been widening the road, installing the lights and adding turn lanes and curbing over the past three months. Despite traffic delays, Muller said the project "has gone off with much less hitches than anticipated." Township Supervisor David Billings …
