Boscov's Staff Foiled Couple's Shoplifting Attempt, Police Say

Todd R. Hoadley, 43, of Upper Nazareth, is charged with trying to steal about $242 in clothes from Boscov's at the Palmer Park Mall.

Police arrived at a Palmer Park Mall entrance Saturday night and found a man on the ground—held down by loss-prevention officials from Boscov’s. The man, Todd R. Hoadley, 43, of Upper Nazareth Township, allegedly tried to steal about $242 in clothes—mostly summer wear—and had been helped by his girlfriend, who had gotten away, according to the loss-prevention officials and 911 dispatchers. The Boscov’s loss-prevention officials said Hoadley and his girlfriend were taking clothing and putting it into an “aerie” bag, according to a criminal complaint filed by Palmer Officer Kenneth McPherson. Shoplifter Stole from Walmart and Kohl's, Police Say

Colonial Regional Police say they discovered stolen Walmart items while investigating a Kohl's theft.

An alleged shoplifter took one too many chances, Colonial Regional Police say. Nicole M. Campbell, 21, of the 100 block of Kristin Place, Williams Township, is facing retail theft charges after she allegedly stole $158.44 in merchandise from Kohl’s in Lower Nazareth Township. Around 5 p.m. April 4, loss-prevention staff told police Campbell put clothing—worth $158.44—in her purse. She then left the store and was stopped in the parking lot, according to police. Campbell also was issued a citation for retail theft, police say, for allegedly stealing $96.46 in merchandise from Walmart, which is near Kohl’s in the Northampton Crossings shopping center. While investigating the Kohl’s theft, police say, they discovered the stolen Walmart goods. …

Man Nabbed Trying to Swipe Cologne from Boscov's, Police Say

An Easton man with prior retail theft convictions faces more serious charges after alleged Palmer Park Mall theft.

An Easton man was charged with felony retail theft after he was allegedly caught trying to steal two cologne gift sets from the Boscov’s department store in the Palmer Park Mall. Paul Harold Esposito, 59, of 33 N. Delaware Drive, is facing a felony charge because he had two prior convictions for retail theft, though the most recent was 18 years ago, according to court papers. According to the arrest affidavit, Esposito took an Yves Saint Laurent cologne gift set, valued at $88, and a Polo cologne gift set, valued at $84, during a trip to the store Friday afternoon. Police: Man Used Paperclip to Steal Earrings

Palmer Township police charge Easton man with Boscov's jewelry theft.

An Easton man was jailed Tuesday for allegedly using a paperclip to steal three pairs of earrings from a Palmer Township store. According to court records, a security officer at the Boscov's at the Palmer Park Mall caught Justin Starr using an unbent paperclip to steal the earrings from the store's jewelry case. Starr, 29, of 119 S. Seventh St., took three pairs of 14-karat gold earrings valued at $270, police say.  He arraigned before District Judge Daniel Corpora on a retail theft charge and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Woman Accused of Stealing Over $200 in Jewelry from Kohl's

Josefa Urena, 44, of Bethlehem is accused of trying to steal more than $200 worth of jewelry from Kohl's in Lower Nazareth Township.

Colonial Regional Police say a Bethlehem woman tried to steal more than $200 worth of jewelry from a Lower Nazareth Township department store. According to court records, Josefa Urena, 44, of the 700 block of E. Washington Avenue, was spotted Sunday afternoon putting jewelry into her bag at the Kohl's Department Store in the Northampton Crossings shopping center. Police say Urena was spotted by store security, who then alerted police. The jewelry Urena attempted to leave the store with -- 14 pieces in all -- were valued at $273. She was arraigned before District Judge Richard Yetter and charged with retail theft.

Police: Easton Woman Stole Shoes From Kohl's

An Easton woman is accused of stealing almost $400 worth of shoes from a Lower Nazareth department store on two separate occasions. Ixchel Coronado, 20, of 208 E. Kleinhans St., was charged Tuesday with retail theft after she was caught stealing from the Kohl's store in the Northampton Crossings shopping plaza. Colonial Regional Police say Coronado committed the thefts on two occasions -- first on May 23, taking $229 worth of shoes, and again on Tuesday, stealing another $167 worth of shoes. Coronado was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Gay Elwell in Easton; she was free on $5,000 bail.

Accused Kohl's Thief Admits to Theft by Deception

Georgene Lerch, of Plainfield Township, was facing a retail theft charge for allegedly stealing items for a coffee maker, but then she admitted to something else.

The guilty conscience of a Plainfield Township woman appears to have gotten the best of her. Georgene Lerch, 61, admitted to loss prevention staff at the Kohl's Department Store in Lower Nazareth Township -- after being stopped for alleged retail theft -- that she went to the store two days earlier, took a Keurig coffee maker from a store shelf, and returned the item to customer service for store credit, according to Colonial Regional Police. According to a press release from Colonial Regional: Lerch was stopped by Kohl's loss prevention staff around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 for concealing store merchandise in a shopping bag and not paying for the items. Palmer Township Woman Facing Four Retail Theft Charges

A Palmer Township woman is facing retail theft charges after she allegedly shoplifted a total of $1,328.79 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s Department Store in Lower Nazareth Township, according to Colonial Regional Police. On July 28 around 7:20pm, Amy Searing, 31, of Country Side Court was observed by Kohl’s loss prevention staff concealing $290.25 worth of merchandise in her purse before exiting the store, passing all points of sale, police say. When police arrived, the store’s loss prevention staff told officers that they observed Searing concealing items on three previous occasions.
