U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright to Open Easton Office

Matt Cartwright, Palmer/Forks new congressman, plans to set up new headquarters on Northampton Street in Easton.

Palmer/Forks's new congressman says he's setting up an office in nearby Easton. U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright will open an office at 436 Northampton Street, his office said in a news release. He'll operate out of an office on the 9th floor of Easton city hall until the renovations on the building are finished. Cartwright -- who was sworn in earlier this month -- has been named to the house's Economic Development Subcommittee, a joint task force on gun violence, and was elected "class president" of this year's freshman congress. Cartwright, a Democrat, represents the 17th district, which was created in 2011 by redistricting, and is made up of the counties of Northampton, Monroe, Carbon, Schuylkill, Luzerne and Lackawanna. Sen. Mensch Appointed to Key Committees

Forks and Palmer representative will chair Senate Aging and Youth Committee.

State Sen. Bob Mensch (R-24) has been appointed to serve on several key committees for the 2013-14 legislative session. "It’s in the committees that much of the work producing sound legislation is done,” said Mensch.  “This is where bills are vetted, examined, amended and improved. I look forward to serving on these committees during what looks to be a challenging and exciting legislative session.” Mensch represents Forks and Palmer Townships. Last month, Senator Mensch was tapped by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati to serve as Chairman of the Senate Aging and Youth Committee.
