Should DUI Arrest Cost Bus Driver His Job?

Lawsuit says Easton school district wrongly fired bus driver over off-duty DUI arrest.

In 2011, Easton Area School District bus driver John Trusz was arrested—while off duty—on suspicion of drunken driving and was fired.

He sued, saying other bus drivers had kept their jobs in similar circumstances, and an arbitrator ruled that Trusz was wrongfully fired.

That's according to the Express-Times, which reported that the school district was appealing the arbitrator's ruling in Northampton County Court.

Court records show Trusz entered the first-time offenders program in 2012, which means his record could eventually be expunged.

What do you think? Should Trusz get his job back? Should bus drivers be fired even if they haven't been convicted of DUI? Tell us in the comments, and take our poll.
