Thoughts, Scenes to Start Off School Year

The Easton Area School District reopened its classes to students from Palmer and Forks Townships Monday.

Monday morning started early.

There was a rustling in my house of doors opening and alarms sounding, much earlier than I remembered. It was about an hour earlier.

My son was heading off to middle school today for the very first time.

As I rubbed my eyes and rolled out of bed, I was already missing the extra hour of sleep I was losing today. But the first day of school always has butterflies fluttering in your belly, no matter your age.

So I accompanied my wife as we drove our son to school. She dropped him off and I gave him a hug goodbye and then surveyed the scene and got to work.

Easton Area Middle School was a busy place as rows of students lined up to get into the school. The Forks Township police were on hand too, offering a feeling of comfort regarding safety and security.

It's hard to believe that summer is over and that school has started, as it does around here the week before the Labor Day weekend.

My son heads off to middle school for the first time. You can see him in blue walking down the path.
