Comfort Inn Open For Business After Tuesday Fire

Fourth-floor fire remains under investigation

The Comfort Inn at the 25th Street Plaza in Palmer is back open for business following an early morning fire Tuesday.

Around 5:30am Tuesday, Palmer Township fire officials were called out to the Comfort Inn after receiving reports of a fire in a fourth-floor room at the hotel. The fire was extinguished by the room’s sprinkler system and was contained to the room. However, the fire caused smoke and water damage, according to Palmer Township Fire Department Assistant Chief Andy Carr.

No injuries were reported and everyone in the hotel was evacuated safely. Power in the hotel was shut off temporarily and the hotel was closed for several hours in order to clear out smoke throughout the building.
