Last Forks Recreation Board Seat Filled

Newcomer William Smyth appointed

The one-available Forks Township Recreation Board seat has been filled.

William Smyth was appointed with a 3-2 vote by the township Board of Supervisors on June 2. Supervisors Erik Chuss and Robert Egolf voted against the appointment.

Nominating Smyth was Supervisor Lilly Gioia.

“He spoke of things that the other applicants did not,” said Gioia. “Since 45 percent of Forks residents have moved here in the last five years, I think this is a wonderful way of bringing that sector in.”

Smyth has been a resident of the township for less than one year and has two children, according to Supervisor C. David Howell.

Chuss said he had reservations over Smyth’s knowledge of the township.

“I just don’t even know that he knows his way around the township let alone knows any of the issues that the recreation board is facing,” said Chuss.
