Forks Police Summer Academy for Children Set
Academy starts up Monday and is free and open to all area youngsters 11-14.
The Forks Township Police Department will host a weeklong police academy for children starting Monday.
The Forks Police Summer Academy is a program that is free to area residents between the ages of 11 and 14. The academy, according to a police department release, hosts programs like drug awareness, bicycle safety, internet safety and teen drinking and driving.
“Students will learn about all facets of police work from fingerprinting and evidence processing to daily patrol responsibilities,” the release stated. “They will also participate in investigating and solving a ‘mock’ crime.”

The program will run from 9am to 3pm July 11 through July 15.
The schedule also calls for several presentations, including a fly-in by the PennSTAR rescue helicopter, a K-9 demonstration and presentations by the Forks Fire Department and Forks Motorcycle Traffic Division.
