Palmer Police Seek Would-Be Store Robber

Police: Man fled onto Maplecroft Avenue after assaulting clerk with stick

Palmer Township Police are asking for help in locating a man who attempted to rob a convenience store and assaulted a store clerk in the process.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 9:30pm Monday at the G & J Fill and Chill at Route 248 and Park Avenue.

According to township Police Chief Bruce Fretz, a man wearing a bandanna over his face entered the store with a knife and stick demanding that the clerk open the cash register. The man then allegedly hit the register and the store clerk with the stick after finding out there was no money inside the register. Fretz said the clerk had just emptied the register in anticipation of closing.  The store clerk refused treatment.
