Easton Area School District and Teachers Union Finalize Contract Agreement

Union still has to agree to terms presented.

The Easton Area School Board and the Easton Area Education Association have come to a contract agreement, according to a release posted today on the district's website.

The statement reads, "The Easton Area School District Board and EAEA negotiation teams have come to a finalized agreement following last night's meeting. The union team will be presenting this agreement to its membership for ratification early next week. If the union membership accepts this proposal, the Board of Education will vote on it at its regularly scheduled meeting next Thursday night."

The agreement comes after weeks of negotiations and a warning by the district that it might have to and end several programs to fill a nearly $13 million budget gap.
