Snow Days Likely To Change School Year Calendar

Mid-June could be the end of the year for kids.

So when is the last day of school again? It could be later than planned.

Easton Area School District Board of Education officials will likely discuss alternatives to make up for all the snow days that the district has seen over the past couple of months. So far the district has closed school eight times thanks to the weather.

The original 2010-11 school year calendar ended on June 7.  As of Friday, the possible last day of school could be June 17.

But the final say is up to the district. School board officials and the superintendent collaborate and decide if make up days will be added onto the end of the school year or half-days and days originally slated as “off” days be changed.

The next board of education meeting is set for 6:30pm Feb. 15 at the district offices, 1801 Bushkill Drive.
